Cvent is an SaaS Events Management based company with customers including CISCO, Adidas, KPMG, Harvard, and United States Strategic Command. In my role I work with many product stakeholders including Senior Leadership, Sales, Marketing, UX, and daily in an agile fashion with two onsite development teams and remote cross-functional teams to deliver solutions to customer needs.
Software Product Manager, LuminUltra
Sep 2016 - Mar 2017
LuminUltra is a Best-in-Class Innovator in Water Microorganism treatment with a mission to make managing and treating our most precious resource easy. As the Software Product Manager I drove re-development of a mobile application (iOS and Android) to help front line water operators treat and prevent water contamination. I lead overall strategy, customer discovery, user testing, feature priotitization, product planning, and GoToMarket with Marketing and Inside Sales.
Product Manager & Founder, R17
Sep 2012 - June 2016
I founded this SaaS company with the mission to help ecommerce retailers accelerate the web speed performance of their online sales funnels to increase sales & decrease customer abondonment through massive realtime analytics and diagnosis. Using LEAN methodologies I developed target personas, UVP & messaging, inbound sales strategy, and lead overall product feature development.
R17 did not work out after discovering with major customers that the initial problem we were solving was a symptom of larger development culture issues. I did attempt a quick pivot successfully deploying an 'ad viewability' analytics product with CIO.com, but this solution was more vitamin than aspirin.
Product Manager & Founder, OSDir
June 2002 - Dec 2012
Discovering 'open source' & Linux I had to tell the world. I taught myself to program & created OSDir.com which became one of the most visited sites in the entire world (~5000th) with up to 200k visitors a day, became a part of the O'Reilly Network of technology publications, and was referenced by the likes of Microsoft, Wikipedia, HP, and many more. Proudly, it was one of the last PR8 (hello SEO nerds) sites in the world that wasn't a major technology or VC backed brand.
I attribute OSDir's rise to relentless testing and analytics mining.
Emerging Technology Blogger & Editor, O'Reilly Media
Apr. 2004 - May 2016
O'Reilly Media (Tim O'Reilly - the oracle of silicon valley) has been inspiring the future for 40 years (2019). In my role I wrote about exciting emerging technologies and cultural shifts, was part of the editorial team on Java.net (for Sun Microsystems), had the honor to participate in the first ever *camp concept FooCamp, and co-founded the Google/O'Reilly Open Source Awards.
